The rising Hip Hop star officially joined the Sony Africa family on Friday, June 3, 2022.
Speaking about the new stage, an enthusiastic Lunya said that being signed by a record label like Sony was a dream come true for him.
“I come from a part of the region where even talking about big labels was a myth and a dream, but I always kept that dream and hope alive. So to see one of my biggest dreams come true has been such a blessing.” and an honor.
“I am most excited to be signed to Sony Music Entertainment as they represent some of the greatest artists I look up to like ASAP Rocky, Future, Travis Scott and many more. I promise my old, new and soon to be fans that Young Lunya is on her way to becoming a global star,” said young Lunya.
Young Lunya recently won Hip-Hop Male Artist of the Year and Best Song in the Hip-Hop category at the Tanzania Music Awards 2022.
Currently, the rapper is working on his debut album and he has already gotten features from top African superstars Diamond Platnumz, Khaligraph Jones, Sho Madjozi from South Africa among others.

The young Lunya who grew up listening to stars like Professor Jay, Chidi Benz and Nikki Mbishi was a member of popular band OMG before embarking on a solo career in 2019.
Since then he has been steadily releasing freestyles which have earned him street cred and eventually a place as a rapper to watch in East Africa and beyond.
He is set to release his first project under Sony on June 10, 2022 dubbed Vitu Vingi.
