BTS members will serve in the military, confirms Big Hit Music


It’s confirmed, BTS will be heading to the military very soon without any delay. The Big Hit Music company confirmed the same via a Twitter post. Sharing lengthy statements in English, Japanese and Chinese, the music company confirmed that all members of the hit group will complete mandatory military service in the coming days.

In a statement, the music company said Jin will begin his process as soon as late October. Others will join as and when asked. And, by 2025, they’ll be back together as a boy band and releasing more songs for ARMY.

“BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for World Expo 2030, so that everyone is embarking on solo endeavors, this is the perfect time and the members of BTS are honored to serve,” the music company explained in the statement.

It further read, “Since BTS’s inception over a decade ago, the group has achieved international success, broken records, and catapulted K-Pop into the global stratosphere. BIGHIT MUSIC has focused on the moment decisive where it would be possible to meet the needs of the country and for these healthy young men to serve with their compatriots, and that is now. Other members of the group plan to perform their military service according to their own individual plans. For those unaware, all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for approximately two years to guard against North Korea.

Kim Seok-jin, the oldest member of BTS, will join the military once he turns 30, which is on December 4. Meanwhile, the second oldest member, Min Yoon-ki, is expected to be drafted in 2024 under a revised law.

Fans wonder if BTS will do military service or be exempt. Some polls showing that a majority of South Koreans want the group’s members to be exempted from military obligations or be offered an alternative.

In South Korea, exemptions from military service are quite controversial because inequalities and privileges are very sensitive subjects there.
