BBC Popular Music is hiring a commissioning manager.
This role will regularly lead the delivery of major television commissions. For example, broadcasting live events like The MOBO awards to BBC1, BBC factual music documentaries for BBC2 of the Indies, Studios or acquisitions. Therefore, a mature relationship with music labels and industry is needed.
This role is also the bridge between BBC Radio networks and their video content commissions for TV/ iPlayer. An understanding and experience of the process of placing appropriate Pop content on TV/ iPlayer is required. This is a small team, and this role often needs to be self-sustaining, often working alone but nurturing and informing a larger team of stakeholders. Therefore, recent practical experience of the commissioning process for TV entertainment / factual entertainment (studio / documentary) is required. The attachment period is likely to include live events, (BBC and external third party), the delivery of BBC2 TV documentaries, and support for the commission of a newly recruited team leader: Publishing Commission, Popular Music.
