Gambian actress to create largest music entertainment company in West Africa –

Ms Rohey Camara, Managing Director of Afri-Music Entertainment, is a Gambian actress, singer, filmmaker and humanitarian.

Recipient of numerous accolades, including Best Supporting Female Actress of 2016 and Best Actress of 2018. She has been repeatedly named the Most Cited Gambian Actress in Nollywood, as a Distinguished Gambian Actress known for her first film as a supporting character in “The Mirror Boy (movie)”.

She has also starred in notable films with renowned Nigerian actors such as Yul Edochie, John Dumelo, and Osita Iheme. His films include Hidden Fantasy, Love Confusion, Twisted Mind, and more. Rohey began her career at the age of 13 as a very determined young woman, and later became one of the Gambians who achieved Nollyhood.

Right after high school she auditioned for a role in “The Mirror Boy” and then starred in other films such as Mebet, Soulmates, Fatou, The Pedro’s, Beyond Greed as the main character, Gift from Babylon, and she was the executive Producer of the film title Lec. She starred in Banjul My Love and Double Bomb.

In May 2020, she was listed as Nollyhood’s Most Wanted Gambian Celebrity. Prior to her acting career, she worked at Unique Fm as host of The Attaya Show. She had a lot of opportunities and then worked for Pro Pac Company, before moving to Digest Publication in the marketing department as a model – where she started her modeling career. She made her film producer debut with Beyond Greed Movie Premiere on February 10, 2018.

Rohey, also known as Rohey the actress, is the founder of Linguère along with her cousin, Yamou Mbye, also an award-winning actress and producer. Linguère’s ambition is to welcome international players and promote excellence in the film industry. It brings together renowned elderly people from the Gambian film industry, such as Ma-Gigain Secka, Uncle Cherno Njie, Aunt Betty Ngum, etc.

Offscreen, Rohey has been heavily involved in international charitable projects, in particular those involving women and children, the poor and the most disadvantaged. She often appears on many “most beautiful women” lists and her personal life is avidly covered in the tabloid press.


Afri-Music Entertainment is his latest project across Africa. It intends to host the biggest music festival in the sub-region every year. The company is currently planning to host its first event in The Gambia and will feature renowned Gambian and non-Gambian performers including Jamaican singer Pop Corn. Rohey’s international fame grew further when she played the supporting character in the Nollyhood movie, The Hidden Fantasy.

Despite her leniency, shyness and kindness, along with her newfound notoriety, Ms. Camara began to gain the attention of the press. Many aspects of her controversial personal life have become news. She is unquestionably very moderate and enjoys being herself. She is very down to earth and passionate about African development.

Rohey said she plans to devote most of her time to humanitarian efforts. She wants to help poor women and children to live a decent life. When it comes to acting and film, Rohey Camara has had a pretty enviable tutelage in his career.
