Lots of soundproofing panels.
Terry said there had been a lot of interest in the class – which teaches how to mix audio, synchronize audio, the nature of sound and how to mic certain instruments.
The options are endless, said Terry.
âMany children came to me and told me they wanted to participate in the program. They do not need to play an instrument to participate in the course; it would help but it is not mandatory, âsaid Terry.
âSeven students in the class, hopefully we will have eight and that will be the maximum,â said Terry.
âI’m a senior and I’m going to go to Winthrop University to study music technology, so I thought why not take this course,â said Nicolai Rose, a senior who is also a musician.
The lessons taught in the South Florence classroom are among the same ones he will be required to take at Winthrop, he said.
“Since I was a child, I have my pencils, I make rhythms. I felt that here I could do that, it is allowed. I can express myself,” said Rose. “We can come together and do something great. I’m really proud that we have this studio here and that I was able to help build it and set it up for my senior year.”
The studio, said Terry, is something the school and the district can be proud of.
