People curious about music meditation – and we think many of us might be using brain breakout right now – can find solace in a Sunday, September 5 workshop at the new Southtown Music Studio wellness center.
The new Latina-run center will open in Southtown’s Mercury Project contemporary art space on that day with a class that embodies its goal of helping people find peace and awareness through sound and the music.
Listening: Music and the Nervous System РAn Introduction to Sound Meditation and the Somatic Experience will be led by studio co-founders Olivia De Jes̼s and Pamela Martinez. According to a statement, the event is aimed at people curious about the role of the body in the body-mind connection and those interested in learning more about music-based meditation techniques.
De Jesús and Martinez will guide guests through anchor meditations, including a sound bath with gongs and crystal bowls. The couple is made up of musicians and teachers with degrees in music education who have been teaching collectively for 35 years.
Early bird tickets for the opening workshop are available for $ 35 until Sunday, August 29. Tickets will then be $ 40. Availability is limited.
