The popular music festival held within the grounds of Hertford Castle returns this summer


Rock at the Castle – the annual free music festival that takes place within the grounds of Hertford Castle – will return this summer.

Performances by local musicians will take place across three stages, with a variety of genres and something to suit all tastes, including acoustic, folk, indie, rock and pop.

There will be food and drink stalls on the castle lawn to supply and refresh you as you dance the afternoon away.

The island will host a family stage with bouncy castles, face painting and many other fun activities.

Rock at the Castle, organized by Hertford City Council, has raised over £50,000 for good causes since its launch.

Charities and organizations in the region now have the opportunity to apply to become the beneficiary of this year’s event.

Performances by local musicians will span three stages

Candidates must be:

  • A local/national registered charity or similar organization with a strong presence in Hertford;
  • Able to demonstrate that their work and initiatives benefit Hertford and the local community;
  • A charity that has the creativity and enthusiasm to sustain fundraising, and;
  • Able to provide a sufficient number of volunteers to attend the event itself and collect donations.

Councilor Jane Sartin, Chair of the Development and Recreation Committee, said, “Rock at the Castle presents a great opportunity for a local charity or community organization to raise funds and exposure.

“If you are involved with an organization that makes a difference in Hertford, please consider applying to be the beneficiary of this year’s event.”

The deadline for nominations to become the Designated Charity is Sunday, May 1.

The Planning and Recreation Committee will make its decision in June.
