UK’s biggest rock festival, Download is drawing fans from all over the world and with the 2019 event including Smashing Pumpkins, Def Leppard, Anthrax, Slipknot, Slayer (in their latest UK performance) and Tool – who haven’t performed in the country in over decade – it’s easy to see why Download 2019 is the calendar event for British metal chefs.

The festival’s Friday lineup included performances from stars such as Whitesnake, Rob Zombie, Def Leppard, Eagles Of Death Metal and Rob Zombie, in addition to fiery sets from Deadland Ritual, Conjuror and ska-punks The Interrupters. uDiscover Music was in the foreground all the time and you can check out some of the highlights of the day if you watch our exclusive video below.

One thing that jumped out was that all the big name metal and hard rock bands wanted to be on Bill Download 2019. In an interview with Sorrell Forbes of uDiscover Music, Frank Hannon of Tesla said: “ It’s obvious when you see this festival crowd that people enjoy [Download] and I love that.

“Despite all the mud, I’m having a phenomenal time and I think it’s great,” added Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes, after his band performed a set that was enthusiastically received in support of their new release. “I make music because of the people who made music before me. That’s why making this cover album was obvious. Music is the most important thing in my life. It guided me through and through the most difficult and horrible things I have ever experienced.

As for enduring hard rockers Def Leppard, it’s been a decade since they set foot on the download scene.

“It’s been exactly ten years to the day since we first played here and it’s wonderful for Def Leppard to still be able to command such an audience in the UK,” guitarist Vivian Campbell revealed.

“Music says it all. I was 9 years old when I saw Marc Bolan for the first time on Top of the pop and it marked the course of my life. I feel extremely lucky to have had this life and to continue to enjoy it.
